Common Visit Questions Prepare for Your Eye Examination
Frequently Asked Questions

Practical Information Before Examination and Treatment

01Does a retinal examination require pupil dilation?+
Often yes. Dilation allows a wider retinal and optic-nerve examination, and the drops may need around 45 minutes before the examination.
02What should I bring to my clinic visit?+
Bring previous reports, images and tests, a list of medicines and eye drops, and any referral information that may help with follow-up.
03Can dilating drops cause temporary blurred vision?+
Yes. Temporary blur and light sensitivity can occur, so sunglasses are recommended and a companion may be helpful.
04When is cataract surgery considered?+
The decision is based on how the cataract affects vision, daily activities and examination findings, rather than waiting for a cataract to “mature.”
