Ocular hypertension
Ocular hypertension means that the pressure inside the eye is elevated without clear evidence of glaucomatous optic-nerve damage at the time of examination.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is progressive damage to the optic nerve. Eye pressure is an important risk factor, but diagnosis also depends on the optic nerve, OCT, visual-field testing, corneal thickness and other factors.
Treatment
Some patients with ocular hypertension are monitored, while others benefit from pressure-lowering treatment. Glaucoma treatment may include drops, laser or surgery.
